We do not want to be jogged or jigged out of our mood, but
a real friend to tolerate us, help us a little, and wait.
First meeting and fee
It is helpful if you can attend for longer than the usual fifty minutes for the first session; this is an opportunity to find out if what I have to offer will meet your needs. If I cannot help you I would try to assist you to find someone more suitable. If we both feel hopeful about the relationship I would suggest that we meet for six weeks and after that we would review together where we have got to and whether we would move on to open ended therapy. The fee for the initial session is £90 for individuals and £95 for couples; I have some low fee places for ongoing work.
Frequency and location
Sessions are weekly or more frequent and last for fifty minutes; they are held at the same time each week, in my therapy room in London SW1 close to Pimlico tube and ten minutes walk from Victoria Station.
I am registered with both BACP and UKCP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) as well as with BAPPS (British Association for Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervisors). All of these organisations have a complaints procedure so that members of the public can directly raise concerns about a registered therapist.
Sessions are confidential within the bounds of UK law.
In work with couples the confidentiality is shared between the three of us.
